Departing from the hypothesis that France caused a significant impact on Nepomuceno, enabling him to adopt the French Mélodie as a model for his songs, the objective of this article is to analyze paradigmatic works in order to demonstrate the relations and comprehend how the process of assimilation occurred. The analytical process, of comparative and interdisciplinary nature, has basis on Stein and Spillman (1996) for the text-music relations, besides as Klein (2005), Reynolds (2003), and Straus (1990) for the intertextual strategies analysis, not shying away from identifying aspects that characterize Nepomuceno's compositional style, revealing the link between Nepomuceno and French modernistic currents.
